Recap: When the Spirit Moves Dance Concert

When the Spirit Moves Dance Concert Pasadena

I was blessed to participate in the When the Spirit Moves Dance Concert at Victory Baptist Church this past Sunday. It was an awesome evening and such an honor to be a part of.  Thanks to Valerie Toliver and her team from Highest Praise Dance who organized the evening with excellence, the perfect blend of order that comes from careful planning, and freedom that comes from humbly being open to the Spirit of God. You made space for Him, and He came and blessed all who were there.

I want to share with you four ways where I saw His fingerprints on the event and to share the video of the dance we shared.

For those of you who prayed for this event, thank you so much. Here are some places where we saw His fingerprints on the event.

  1. He brought the dancers together and blessed them. Those He brought to dance with me were abundantly blessed, both as they danced, and as they received ministry through the dances others brought. Here’s what one woman said: It’s been such a blessing to have this song permeating my spirit. (I find myself imagining Jesus face when He washed the disciples feet.) The evening of praise last night was amazing!!! Such an outpouring of loving the Lord with all our heart and mind and soul and strength!!! – Christie
  2. It was so well organized. With nearly 100 dancers contributing to the event, the team had people in place at every turn to make sure we knew where to be when and felt loved in the process. For God is not a God of disorder but of peace–as in all the congregations of the Lord’s people. I Corinthians 14:3.
  3. The variety of the styles of dances, colors and types of garments, and ages of dancers, reflected His infinite creativity and His love for variety and uniqueness.  Each of them lifted up Jesus. Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord;  and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone.  To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.  I Corinthians 4:4-7.
  4. Those leading the evening made space for the congregation to participate in the worship and movement. They left space between dances for the congregation to respond in prayer, sung worship, and movement, at times. This was not a spectator concert, but an event that drew everyone present to worship and receive ministry. It was a joy to watch an older gentleman dance his way up to the front and express his joy in Jesus through spontaneous dance. We was awesome to see another woman come to the front for salvation and deliverance. We celebrated His work in her life. I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent. Luke 15:7

Here is the piece that the group of dancers I led shared that night. I pray that it blessed you and that you experience His mercy and grace as you watch.

Please share in the comments.

If you were at the When the Spirit Moves concert, please take a minute and share where you saw the Lord working.

If not, share how you have seen Him work through dance recently.

Thanks for allowing me to be part of your life.
